Monterosso Al Mare in the Cinque Terre + La Spezia

Sunday we took the train from Florence to La Spezia! It was about an hour and a half with stops, so not terrible. La Spezia is the town right outside of Cinque Terre, and since we’re always trying to save where we can on our trips it was a lot more affordable to stay there instead of actually inside Cinque Terre!

Sooo Cinque Terre is this place made of of 5 cities on the western coast of Italy, they’re connected by hiking trails and trains. Monterosso Al Mare was just the first city we stopped in, you can read about our stop in Vernazza as well!

Where we stayed: Here with Airbnb, good price, good location, but we’ve decided we’re more “hotel” people than renters.

Where we ate: La Spezia here and here, and I didn’t really like either of them despite them having great reviews. Cinque Terre we ate here and we both liked it! And the gelato in Monterosso Al Mare was out of this world! No idea why it was better than anywhere else!!

We just wandered around until we found this place, Dave really liked his steak but my ravioli was just ok.We ate here, my ravioli was AWESOME and Dave’s pizza was just ok. But the cans of coke were the nectar of the Gods. First stop: Monterosso Al Mare!!! My mom and brother’s have both been here so we knew it would be worth our while. And it was by far the cleanest city. So nice and the beach was great! Collecting sand for our ornament collection! See the post here.
